Manufactory Meissen Manufactory German
Decorator Adam Friedrich von Löwenfinck German

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 533

This bottle-shaped vase is unusual for its size, and the technical difficulties that it presented are evident in the slight listing of the vase's tall neck. The detailed and beautifully-painted chinoiserie scenes can be attributed to Adam Friedrich von Löwenfinck, an especially skilled painter who left Meissen not long after he decorated this vase.

Vase, Meissen Manufactory (German, 1710–present), Hard-paste porcelain decorated in polychrome enamels, gold, German, Meissen
