Ornament

third quarter 15th century
On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 500
The tiny musical figures are strongly reminiscent of the bronze musical angels by Donatello that adorn the high altar of the church of Sant'Antonio in Padua. This ornament was probably attached to the end of a girdle or belt.
