Trencher with quotation from The Governance of Virtue (1566) (one of a set)
One of a set of twelve trenchers (64.101.1579–.1590) and a box (64.101.1591a, b). In center of trenchers are reserves containing moralising inscriptions. See also 64.101.1566–1578a, b, for a set of trenchers and box, probably from the same workshop, inscribed with humorous four-line verses on the relations between married people.
