A.C. Colenbrander, the first artistic director of the Rozenburg factory, designed both the form and decoration of this vase. Colenbrander's designs for ceramics departedcompletely with traditional forms and types of decoration. While he remained at Rozenburg for only four years, his innovative work brought the factory great acclaim.
