Probably by Giuseppe Picano

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 550

Saint Andrew and its mate Saint Peter (see 2010.70.1) served as models for statues of the brother Apostles in the choir of the Oratorian church of the Girolamini in Naples. The statues were carved later (ca. 1795) by Picano's follower Francesco Vercella (Naples, active ca. 1790–1845).
