Terracotta kylix (drinking cup) with horses

Attributed to the Painter of Berlin 2268

On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 171

This kylix of Type B is one of the more notable vases by the painter of Berlin 2268. Although it was composed without much detail or very much care, the lifelike attributes of the horses and the figures make this piece interesting and attractive. The almost total absence of anatomical markings on the figures is typical of this time period, painter and shape.
