Fragmentary terracotta relief of a reclining figure

late 6th–early 5th century BCE

This is an early representation of the reclining banqueter that figures so prominently among Tarentine terracottas. The young man here holds a phiale (libation bowl). In other examples, he holds other appropriate attributes such as a drinking horn or fruit.
