Terracotta head of a youth
Greek, South Italian, Tarentine
The youth wearing a pilos (pointed helmet) is a common type among Tarentine terracottas. In earlier scholarship, these figures were identified as the Dioskouroi, Kastor and Polydeukes, who with their sisters Helen and Klytamnestra, were offspring of Leda. The identity of the youths is now undefined.
