Bronze statuette of a reclining satyr
This delightful pair of satyrs, one playing the Pan pipes while reclining on a wineskin and the other holding a drinking horn, probably once decorated the rim of a large bronze vessel. These devotees of Dionysos, god of wine, are appropriate subjects on a vase used to serve that drink. Their style suggests a workshop in one of the major cities of Northern Etruria, perhaps Chiusi.
