Bronze lunate razor

9th–8th century BCE
On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 170
Objects resembling this one have often been found in male burials throughout Italy. They were perhaps used to trim hair rather than to shave beards. The small perforated appendage, a frequent feature on these crescent-shaped razors, allowed them to be suspended from a fibula.
