A member of the of the New York Stock Exchange and the Camera Club of New York, Post collected European and American Pictorial photography and inspired Stieglitz to do the same. Unlike the pretty winter scenes that were Post's photographic specialty, this image reveals a remarkably clear and minimal vision, unexpected in such an early work.
