[Album of Figure Studies]
This album, filled with a variety of nude studies, appears to have been compiled by a late nineteenth-century amateur painter as a useful compendium of poses and figure types. In one instance, a pair of photographs—one a nude study, the other a reproduction of a painting—shows how the painter used such images. The page displayed here is typical of the range of natural and contrived poses, expression, and print quality found throughout the album.
