Cornelia Rutgers Livingston

Tim Davis American, born Malawi
2003
Not on view
For his series Permanent Collection, Davis photographed paintings on display in various museums across the country, shooting from a slightly oblique angle to emphasize the reflective glare of the museum lighting on the paintings’ surfaces. Here, a glimmering burst of light mysteriously obliterates the face and raised hand of a young girl in a portrait by the nineteenth-century American painter Henry Inman on display in the New Britain Museum of Art in Connecticut.
