Christ

18th–19th century
Not on view
Kongo artists cast figures of Christ to be mounted on crucifixes, placed on altars, hung on walls, or positioned at the summit of staffs. The author of this example retained the naturalism of the Portuguese prototypes upon which it likely was modeled.
