Male Figure

Xochipala

Not on view

The male figure made in the unusual Xochipala style is seated on his left heel and pulls his right leg up, as if preparing to rise. His body, wrapped tightly in a striped garment, faces front while his head turns slightly to his right. His facial features are very delicately modeled; he has a slight furrowed brow, elongated open eyes, a broad nose and very full, open lips. In his right ear he wears a red plug (the left one is missing) and over his upper chest and shoulders is a broad collar consisting of many trapezoidal adjoining elements. His hair, indicated by striations, is cut short in three tiers and painted black.
