Design for a Wall Tomb.

Inscription: The pediment of the tomb is inscribed by the artist with pen and brown ink, "mischo;" the word is repeated on the fascia of the architrave below. The verso was annotated, probably by a notary acting on behalf of the patron of the tomb, in pen and brown ink, along the upper right: "Modellus sepulture faciende per Magrm [Magistrum] Georgiu[m?] de Curte Heredibus Andree/ Gentilis sup[ra] forma[n] co[n]tractus [cancelled, incepit] sub die 4 maij 1524 inti° 2 [patch]". Also on verso, annotation by late 19th century hand in graphite: "Papierzeichen Anker in Kreis mit Stern darüber Papier in ital. Herstellung aus der Zeit der Zeichnung, siehe Briquets "Les Filigranes." Another hand, likewise in graphite on verso: "Collection of Cav. G. C. Rossi Roman Numismatist (L.2212)."
