The bronze statue of Marcus-Aurelius in Campidoglio, Rome since Paul III was placed before the church of Saint-John of Latran while Marcantonio Raimondi was completing this print, which explains the lettering at the bottom of the plate (ROMAE.AD.S.IO.LAT.). This print was completed during Raimondi's first visit to Rome.
