Nude Figure
Stevens, a sculptor who drew inspiration from Michelangelo, was one of the finest figural draftsmen in Britain during the nineteenth century. This drawing appears to be a preliminary sketch for a servant in "Vision of the Angel," part of a scheme he designed to decorate the east end of Christ Church, Cosway Street, Marylebone. Scholars dated this unexecuted scheme to 1860–65.
