This plate was made with William Glackens by Sloan's side and served as Glackens first and only lesson in etching. Sloan brought the waxed plate outside, drew directly from nature, then went back to the studio for the biting.

One of the earliest examples of Sloan signing his name in the plate. Here on the print, it is seen in reverse, see: Morse 1969, p. 62.
