Khambavati Ragini: Page from a Dispersed Ragamala Series (Garland of Musical Modes)
One early text thus explains the subject of this illustration to a musical mode: "Clad as the autumn moon, dazzling as the jasmine, Khambhabati's Vedic devotions and manifold service to Brahma find acceptance by the Four-headed [god]." Here Khamabhavati is accompanied by a female attendant holding an offering tray of fruits.
