This amateur watercolor records an interior in Dr. Samuel Parr's substantial parsonage at Hatton, where he lived for three decades and ran a small private school for boys. Here men and women gather for an evening party with musicians playing a harp, flute and harpsichord as seated guests converse and play cards. The styles of dress and furnishings suggest a date in the 1820s.
