Giacomo Sangermano Italian

Not on view

View of the vault of Saint Peter's Basilica in Rome, showing the scaffolding designed by Pietro Albertini that was used to restore the ornaments of the vault in November of 1773. The print shows a lateral, close-up view one side of the vault over the nave. On the left side a wooden construction is visible which allows the restorors to work on the vault at various heights. The construction can be moved along the vault by way of a horizontal pulley system.
