Erika Bierhaus-Rödiger. Carl Rottmann, 1797–1850: Monographie und kritischer Werkkatalog. Munich, 1978, p. 434, no. A225, calls it "Flachlandschaft mit hohem Himmel" and lists it among doubtful works once attributed to Rottmann; notes that the extreme ratio between the sky and ground, as well as the colors, are common in the work of Ernst Kaiser.
