Border with "Block" Foliate Pattern

French

On view at The Met Cloisters in Gallery 08

The tendril-like shapes of the leaves and the manner in which the tips are bent back stylistically relate this border fragment to examples from the lost nave glazing of the cathedral of Amiens and, in general, to 13th-century borders in Northeast France.
