Bowl with Abstract Floral Pattern

late 1200s–early 1300s
On view at The Met Fifth Avenue in Gallery 300
On loan to The Met
This work of art is currently on loan to the museum.
The decoration of this bowl is similar in style to the Bowl with Abstract Spiral Design (L.2000.77.2). Here the pinwheel design in the center gives way to alternating petals and playful lines suggesting a stylized flower.
