Glass Fragments

Coptic

Not on view

Excavations by the Metropolitan Museum at a necropolis in Egypt's Libyan Desert revealed a domed funerary chapel with an intriguing form of decoration: glass vessels of various shapes and colors impressed into the plaster of the dome. These fragments come from a plate composed of yellow-green and dark-green glass fused to form a pattern.
