"Bizarre" Jam Pot with Cover
Descended from a long line of potters, Cliff became one as well. Her color palette and decorative vocabulary, however, are unique. She produced two fanciful, popular ranges of Staffordshire pottery, "Bizarre" for the Newport Pottery and "Fantasque" for A. J. Wilkinson Ltd. (see MMA 1982.172.4), both of which are characterized by abstract geometric patterns and stylized Art Deco landscapes.
