Invitation
As reported in the New York Times, to publicize the start of the new Stehli Silks Americana collection of textile designs, "An exhibition of silk prints designed by six contemporary American artists . . . is being held at the Art Centre . . . until Nov. 14. It was opened yesterday afternoon with a few explanatory words by Richard F. Bach of the Metropolitan Museum of Art."[1] Bach, who served as the curator of Industrial Arts at the time, acquired fifty-five samples from the line for the museum’s permanent collection in 1927.
