Bowl

China

Not on view

The deeply crackled glaze on this bowl reflects an interest in such patterned surfaces that first developed in northern China in the late eleventh century and continued to be found on ceramics produced in the south in the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. The bowl is a rare example of Jun, a northern ware, with this type of glaze effect.
