Star

D. J. Hall American
2001
Not on view
California-based artist D.J. Hall skillfully renders her compositions with a brightly hued, photorealist finish. They are based on photographs of scenes the artist has staged, usually in her own backyard, often hand-selecting the costumes and props for her models. The sunny, almost saccharine aspect of her works belies a more serious, perhaps even darker side to the bright atmosphere of her scenarios.
