Drum

20th century
Not on view
This drum from Mali has a hide head, fur still lingering at the edges, attached to the drum frame with wooden pegs, which are reinforced with a fiber cord. The tall, orange stained, off-set waisted wooden frame measures over forty-one inches (105.3 centimeters). The height and waisted construction of this drum closely resembles some drums found in Central Africa, specifically Cameroon. (Althea SullyCole, 2022)
