Grinder
Middle Kingdom
This grinding stone was part of a foundation deposit comprising 25 vessels of pottery and Egyptian alabaster, 1 stone burnisher of Egyptian alabaster, and 9 additional rough grinders of sandstone. The deposit was discovered in a pit along the axis of the pyramid temple of Amenemhat I at Lisht North, where it had been buried during rituals performed by the king to mark the beginning of the temple's construction.
