Conical earrings

Roman Period
A.D. 2nd century or later
Not on view
This earring is a variant of the type of hoops with pendants formed from inverted pyramids that is popular in the Roman Period. Here the pendant is an inverted cone and the hoop is made from corrugated sheet.

Pendants with inverted pyramids or cones seem to date to the 2nd century and later based on their appearance on panel paintings.
