Dish with inscription and decorated with chrysanthemums and rows of dots

mid-15th century
Not on view
This dish decorated with chrysanthemums, dots, and lines is an example of buncheong ware, a Korean ceramic produced from the late fourteenth through the mid-sixteenth century. Easily overlooked amid the dense motifs, the inscription in the center roundel, 慶州長興庫 (경주장흥고), enlarged on the glass, identifies Gyeongju as the city where the dish was made and Jangheunggo as the government bureau that commissioned it.
