Not on view

This plate comes from a series of designs for gunsmiths. The most prominent pieces are the flintlock with grotesque mascarons, snakes and a hunting scene, and the butt cap with an oval medallion of the head of Medusa. Also on the plate are a cartouche with a sun mask, another with an antique profile, a wrist escutcheon with a crown and a dolphin, two sideplates and a frizzen with an eagle holding thunderbolts and standing on a lyre.
