Woman's theatrical costume for 'Jam Session', a scene from "The Show Is On"
Drawing, design for a woman's costume, part of a group of 88 costume designs by Vincente Minnelli. The costume was designed for the scene 'Jam Session', from the production 'The Show Is On', created for the Shuberts and performed in Broadway in 1937. It consists of a gown with broad shoulders and three-quarter sleeves, peplum top and long, flared skirt, with pairs of bands at the bottom of both the top and the skirt. The design is outlined with shimmery, green-colored pencil.
