Rouen, from Bon Secours

1907
Not on view
Pennell, a Philadelphia-born Quaker, spent the first two decades of his career abroad, living primarily in London, where he became a close associate of Whistler. Here, he represents the French city of Rouen, distinguished by its famous gothic cathedral, the view taken from Bon Secours, a small suburb along the Seine. The artist printed about ninety proofs.
