[Palm Trees with Nude Figure Against Blue Sky]

Sally Larsen American
1990
Not on view
A belief in the interconnectedness of nature, art, and people underlies San Francisco artist Sally Larsen’s image-making practices. To this end, she often mixes photographic processes from different periods. Here, she scanned instant film into an image processing application to composite a bisected vision of undulating forms in shades of blue. Generally, her artwork focuses on patterns in nature, and in this particular print she creates a dialogue between the curved fronds of the palm tree and the digitally extended torso of a female nude.
