Rectangular sheet of paper with a textile design from a group, dated 1840, made in Mulhouse, Alsace, which was an important nineteenth-century center for textile production in the Haut-Rhin region of France. The pattern is made up of horizontal rows of groups of three rectangles framed by garlands of branches of light tan color with offsetting thorns of dark reddish-brown color separated by horizontal rows of groups of four pearls over a light tan ground with dark reddish-brown stipples. The rectangles are colored with purple, pink, orange and green; the pearls are colored with white.
