Rectangular sheet of paper with a textile design from a group, dated 1840, made in Mulhouse, Alsace which was an important nineteenth-century center for textile production in the Haut-Rhin region of France. The design is made up of a paisley motif decorated with branches with small stylized flowers of red color and leaves framed by two vertical stripes of green color with black outlines over a dark burgundy ground. The upper part of the stripes is outlined with alternating squares of black and green color.
