Design for a certificate, awarded by the city of Vienna for the most beautiful floral balcony decorations (balcony above text)

The Viennese urban landscape is known for its beautifully decorated façades, both in their permanent architectural decorations and the ephemeral floral additions. This custom was greatly encouraged by the Viennese city council which awarded its citizens, not for the most abundant but for the most tastefully decorated balcony and window displays. Puchinger’s designs for the winner’s certificate echo the works of his colleague Gustav Klimt in their rich interplay between the three-dimensional flora and the two-dimensional patterns they inspired.
