Woman in a garden, in the style of Qian Du (ca. 1764–1844)
According to his inscription, Yu Yuan painted this fan in the style of Qian Du, a painter active in the early- to mid-nineteenth century known for his spare and eerie landscapes. Qian often left the faces of his figures blank, as Yu Yuan does here with the lissome woman who leans against a willow trunk in a garden.
