Robes Modèles Historiques, Pompadour Soubrette
42nd plate of album with 60 19th-century costume plates and 1 drawing of mostly women's historical costumes, featuring a variety of designs for traditional costumes from different parts of the world, as well as costumes for literary characters, including Esmeralda. This plate consists of a woman wearing a costume for a Soubrette in the 18th-century style of Mme. Pompadour, made up of a soft blue dress with scattered pink roses on short, golden stems with leaves, with borders made up of ruffled, white fabric with golden scrolling motifs, over a draped pink underdress, also with ruffled borders. The sleeves and skirt of the dress are voluminous, and are adorned with several thin bundles of pink roses and green leaves. The woman's hair is tied back, and is decorated with a pink head dress with small roses and feathers. She wears white gloves on her hands, and one of them is holding a closed, white fan; the other holds her skirt, and her wrist is adorned by a golden bangle. She wears pink stockings and black low heels.
