Not on view
47th plate of album with 60 19th-century costume plates and 1 drawing of mostly women's historical costumes, featuring a variety of designs for traditional costumes from different parts of the world, as well as costumes for literary characters, including Esmeralda. This plate consists of a woman wearing a female costume for an Incroyable, made up of a green jacket with brown Greek scrolls on the border and pale pink lapels, over an emerald green dress with an underskirt of the same color as the jacket, and with brown Green scrolls on the border, and with soft pink fabric around her chest, decorated with thin garlands of small pink roses and green leaves. She wears a large, white bow in front of her neck, with pieces of white lace under it, and long, cream gloves with the sleeves of the jacket tucked into them. She wears a crescent-moon-shaped black hat, in the style of those worn by the Incroyables at the turn of the century, decorated with a golden rosette at the front. She holds a magnifying glass on one hand, and an undulating cane on the other. She wears pink stockings and green heels, tied with green ribbons that scroll up her legs.
