57th plate of album with 60 19th-century costume plates and 1 drawing of mostly women's historical costumes, featuring a variety of designs for traditional costumes from different parts of the world, as well as costumes for literary characters, including Esmeralda. This plate consists of a woman wearing a costume for La Tosca, made up of a white dress with scattered bundles of pink flowers with green stems and leaves, and thin, undulating garlands with pink flowers and green leaves, over a soft pink chemise with ruffled collar and matching underskirt, with a dark green ribbon border, and a purple belt tied around the waist with tassels at the ends, and a matching scarf, which hangs from her arms. She wears a large, dark green hat with pink and white feathers, yellow gloves, and black shoes. She holds a large bundle of pink roses and green leaves on one arm, and a long, brown cane on the other.
