This print shows a wholesale and retail saddlery and coach-harness warehouse and manufactory at 39 Third Street, at the northwest corner of Chesnut Street in Philadelphia around 1820. The proprietor "Mr. Kensie" mentioned ovet the door was in fact Edmund (or Edmond) Kinsey, a saddler and member in 1817 of the "Philadelphia Society for the Promotion of American Manufacturers." This four storied building served both the retail and wholesale trade, while operating as a warehouse and factory, and the image demonstrates Klinckowström's interest in the commercial life of American cities that he visited.
