Floréal, Pl. 12
Twelfth plate of album with 20 pochoir pattern plates, titled "Floréal: Dessins & Coloris Nouveaux" (Floreal: New Designs and Colors), created by Emile-Allain Séguy and published in Paris by A. Calavas in 1925 or earlier. The plate contains five ornamental designs, possibly for textiles or wallpapers, with lively, semi-abstract motifs inspired from nature. The first design consists of stylized flowers made up of short, blue, undulating stems flanked by scrolling leaves and thin, blue, scrolling filaments and bell-shaped anthers, colored with blue and shades of green, enclosed within inverted semi-abstract heart shapes that make up the petals of the flowers, colored with blue, and flanked above by semi-abstract, green flames, on a light green ground. The second design is made up of bundles of semi-abstract flowers with purple and red petals, and leaves, colored with black and with dark green highlights, on a brownish-orange ground. The third design is made up of alternating rows of semi-abstract, heart-shaped vases, colored with orange, holding bundles of abstract flowers and leaves, colored with shades of green, above a grayish-blue shade with purple and black dots, on a brown ground with small, purple dots. The fourth design is made up of interlacing branches with leaves, colored with dark green and white, and bundles of semi-abstract flowers, colored with light green, light brown, purple, and red, on a blue ground. The fifth design is made up of alternating lozenges, outlined with pairs of thin, white lines, with black swatches, with three, semi-abstract leaves, colored with shades of brown, on a dark gray ground with purple dots.
