Three Domes: Hinkley, Three Domes: Antelope Valley, Three Domes: California City

Mark Ruwedel American
2013
Not on view
Using the old fashioned view camera of nineteenth century predecessors such as Carleton Watkins and Timothy O'Sullivan, Ruwedel photographs the American West from a historical perspective, recording the traces of expansion into and exploitation of the landscape as well as latter day interventions such as these three geodesic dome structures. Ruwedel is both amused by the buildings but also wistful for the utopian aspirations they once embodied.
