Engraving, part of 'Omnium pene Europae, Asiae, Aphricae atque Americae Gentium Habitus' (Costumes of the various nations of Europe, Asia, Africa and America), a series of prints representing figures from various parts of the world, engraved by Abraham de Bruyn and published by Joos de Bosscher in 1580.

This engraving represents the arms and costumes of Antwerp's bourgeoisie, in two rows of illustrations with labelsit is the first of three plates illustrating such costumes in the album.

On the first row, on the left, are two armed men wearing matching doublet and hose with stripes and pointed hats with bundles of large feathers, and holding swords on one hand and large shields with war scenes on the other. Next to them are a captain and a lieutenant, wearing different styles of doublet and hose, according to their rank, with ruff, hat, and swords. On the right are three gentlemen of the armed forces, wearing jerkins with stripes over doublets with long puff sleeves, ruffs, and wide hose with different geometric patterns, and with helmets with bundles of feathers on their heads, armed with sword and shields with different kinds of geometric or floral patterns.

On the second row are the three muskketeers, wearing matching jerkin and wide hose, each with a different type of pattern, over doublets with long puff sleeves, ruffs, hats with feathers, and armed with shotguns and swords. On the right are the 'tambourin men' of the company: one wears a striped jerkin over a doublet with long puff sleeves and paned hose, stockings, and flat shoes, an open ruff, and a hat with a large bundle of feathers, carrying a coat on his shoulder and a small hat on his right hand. The other wears a cartwheel ruff, doublet, wide hose, stockings and boots, a cape and wide-brimmed hat with a bundle of large feathers, carrying a large drum and playing it with two drumsticks.
