In October 1844, Louis Philippe, King of the French, crossed the Channel to make a week-long visit to Queen Victoria and Prince Albert at Windsor Castle. This scene shows the king landing at Gosport on October 8th, and belongs to a bound set of twenty-five lithographs published in 1846 to commemorate the journey.
